Program Description
Each 1-hour interactive teleconference includes a short introduction, a 25- to 30-minute presentation, and a 20-minute question-and-answer session with a member of the faculty. Participants are encouraged to ask questions to ensure a lively discussion.

Target Audience Primary care physicians

Goal To provide primary care physicians with current data and expert commentary on achieving goal blood pressure levels in clinical practice

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Describe the importance of systolic blood pressure in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality
• State current goal blood pressure levels for patients with and without diabetes
• Discuss the results of recent randomized studies, such as the Valsartan Antihypertensive Long-term Use Evaluation (VALUE) trial, and their relevance to clinical practice
• Identify effective combinations of antihypertensive agents to achieve goal blood pressure levels

How to Receive Credit
To qualify for CME credit, you must participate for the entire teleconference, answer the self-assessment questions, and submit the evaluation form. The estimated time to complete the entire activity is about 1 hour.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of New York Medical College (NYMC) and QD Healthcare Group. NYMC is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. NYMC designates this activity for a maximum of 1 category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician’s Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credit(s) that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
